OCTOPUS INK PAINTINGS When we lived in Alaska, I was able to purchase octopus ink from a fisherman. He and his wife had a charter halibut fishing business. They used octopus for bait for halibut fishing, so the ink was a bi-product of the fishing industry. It takes a very small amount of the ink to complete a painting, as it is very concentrated. Octopus ink is very permanent and light fast. I have not been able to get more of the ink, so it has become something I value more than ever and I plan to be very careful in how I use it.
