I'M EXPERIMENTING WITH ACRYLIC ON STRETCHED CANVAS
"FACING WEST ON A BREEZY DAY"
I first envisioned a raven in the upper portion of my 24"x24" stretched canvas. He was to be on some sort of line or platform.
However, even after i began the bird and "platform", i had no idea yet how i would finish the painting.
Eventually i decided on a circle design, centered in the lower portion. i was thinking in terms of "mandala".
i then proceeded to paint water flowing across, but was struggling with what the circle design would look like.
My husband Ivan suggested "How about a compass?" Wow!! That was perfect. Somehow a compass was exactly right.
i created my own compass design. However, the compass design was distracting attention from my raven == until our son suggested painting some of the flowing water over the compass.
in this particular case, my family's suggestions made all the difference in the creation of one of my personal favorites.
